League Two rivals of Wrexham, warned by Phil Parkinson, are “licking their lips” at the thought of earning another promotion.
Consequently, what happened?
Last season, the Red Dragons defeated Notts County to win the National League title in an unprecedented fashion, demonstrating their ability to maintain composure in the face of a rigorous campaign. Now that they are back in the EFL, Wrexham is having fun and is working on earning a spot in League One.
PARKINSON’S MENTION
With 11 games remaining, Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and company have a bid to make. Parkinson stated of that effort, “You can see the lads really licking their lips and ready for the run-in.” There are several guys on our team who look forward to this time of year. They demonstrated it last year, and we performed admirably in the final stretch and overcame Stockport in my first season at the team. The entire team seems prepared for the final 11 games, in my opinion. Being at the forefront of the division by the last quarter of the season is what a football season is all about. We are there because that’s where we wanted to be. In order to give ourselves the best chance in every game, we will now give it everything we have in terms of training, preparation, and standards.
THE LARGER IMAGE
The only team Wrexham faced in League Two last season was County, but they now share a five-point gap at the head of the pack. “Once we’d shaken Chesterfield off last year, it became a two-horse race and we didn’t have to look at too many other results aside from Notts County,” Parkinson continued, describing an exciting race to the finish. This season, the dynamic is a little different because there are more teams to consider, but we are still thrilled to be in such a strong division and have a thrilling run-in ahead of us.
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
As of right now, Wrexham is three points behind Mansfield at the top of the league. They will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Morecambe. Parkinson is conscious that his team needs to improve its away performance at this critical juncture in the season.
