Last night, Liel Abada’s exit from Celtic was formally announced. The youthful winger may have paid as much as £10 million to join MLS team Charlotte FC (Sky Sports).

It was a predictable move. The treble champion wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play for the Hoops because of the ongoing war in his hometown, according to a prior statement from manager Brendan Rodgers.

Last night, Charlotte FC formally confirmed his departure on social media, and Abada sent a heartfelt farewell to the Hoops on Instagram. But Celtic has said nothing about it—at least not on their social media platforms.

Abada’s departure has not been mentioned on X or Instagram, although the official club website did post a notification just after 8 p.m. yesterday. Celtic verified the deal and provided a summary of his stats and accomplishments in green and white.

“Everyone at Celtic thanks Liel for his great contribution to the club and we sincerely wish him the very best for the future,” was the statement’s most notable conclusion, wishing Abada well.

It’s unclear if Celtic will comment on Abada’s transfer on any of their social media accounts. They have, however, already written about this weekend’s Scottish Cup match against Livingston since it was confirmed, so the radio silence is probably going to persist.
