The Dallas Cowboys will earn two compensatory picks in the NFL draft this year, it has been confirmed.
Dallas was given two additional picks when the league released the compensatory picks on Friday. With a fifth-round selection (choose 173) and a sixth-round selection (pick 216), they now have seven draft picks overall in 2024.
The selections were given out as a result of the team’s 2023 free agency losses of Dalton Schultz and Connor McGovern. This year, the Cowboys were one of nine clubs that received multiple comp picks. The Cowboys frequently receive comp selections as a reward for their free agency frugalness, and this year has proven to be another successful year for that tactic.
Last year, Asim Richards, Eric Scott, and Deuce Vaughn were selected by the Dallas Cowboys with their fifth and sixth round selections. However, it was with those mid-Day 3 selections in 2022 that they discovered actual stars, as they chose Damone Clark (whose pick was made with that year’s compensatory pick) and DaRon Bland. On the top five-ranked defence from the previous season, both players played a significant part.
