Paul Mullin has been informed that he may continue playing international football without having to abandon Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham project.

Consequently, what happened?
The prolific frontman’s window of opportunity to earn a spot in the senior Wales team is closing, as his thirty-first birthday falls in November. Mullin has scored 95 goals for Wrexham, but he has also played in the National League and League Two. Rob Page has acknowledged that he has been keeping an eye on Mullin’s progress.

WHAT TRUNDLE SAID ABOUT MULLIN

Quizzed on whether Mullin will get a chance with Wales while at SToK Racecourse, former Red Dragons striker Lee Trundle has told the Fearless in Devotion podcast: “I love Mulls and I think he’s a great player. What gets me a little bit is people try and question your ability by saying ‘Oh, well you’re only playing at that level’. If Mulls went up and played in the Championship in the right team, I think he would still score goals. The thing now is about this Wales call up and people are saying there’s people ahead of him. Even if you go into the National League, he’s scored that many goals, and he’s scored them consistently. If I was the manager of Wales, I would definitely have him in the squad, 100 per cent.”

When questioned further about whether Mullin would need to join a Championship team in order to achieve his ultimate goals, Trundle said, “I think that he can go and play at that level, and I’m hoping that will be with Wrexham.” Like me at Swansea, he’s found himself in a scenario where you go to a club that perfectly suits you and everything revolves around you. Mulls would perform exactly the same and score exactly the same goals if he moved up the leagues with Wrexham.

UP NEXT FOR WREXHAM & MULLIN?
Mullin, who was just benched, is up to 16 goals for the season after scoring a hat-trick against Accrington Stanley in his most recent game. With 11 games remaining, Wrexham is now in third place in League Two, so he has another promotion celebration in his sights.
