Speaking to TWTD, Ipswich Town shot stopper Vaclav Hladky disclosed that negotiations over his contract status are still underway, but nothing has been finalised as of yet.

The goalkeeper’s 2023–24 season has gone better than he could have predicted prior to the season’s commencement.

He appeared destined to spend the most of this campaign on the bench after finishing behind Christian Walton in the standings the previous season.

Rather, under Kieran McKenna, he has been among the first names on the teamsheet and has done more than enough to merit an extension at Portman Road.

At the present, Ipswich’s goalkeeping situation is precarious because the contracts of Hladky and Walton are set to expire at the end of the current campaign. McKenna’s team has some comfort knowing that the club has the option to extend the latter’s contract by an additional 12 months after the summer.

Nevertheless, as they compete to win back-to-back promotions and defeat teams like Leeds United and Southampton, both of these players may want to know their future plans as soon as possible. They don’t need any outside distractions.

Hladky on the contract situation at Ipswich Town: “Nothing has been done as of yet.”
The Tractor Boys will want to lock down a new contract for their first-choice shot-stopper as soon as possible, but it doesn’t appear that one has been agreed yet.

Hladky stated, “There is not much I can say,” in an interview with TWTD. Of course, there are talks, but nothing has been accomplished thus far, and they may take some time.

“I’m in my ‘tunnel’ and all I want to do is focus on Cardiff tomorrow, which is natural for a player.

“The stuff around me, I have people to deal with.”

Vaclav Hladky is right to focus on what’s happening on the pitch at Ipswich Town

Hladky will desire some assurance about his future, not only for money but also for psychological reasons.

Considering this, even though his current contract doesn’t expire until the end of the season, no one would blame him if he was concentrating on finding a solution to his contract problem.

However, the goalie has every reason to be more concerned with what’s occurring on the pitch than what’s going on off it, given the Tractor Boys are in a pivotal part of their season.

His efforts might mean the difference between Ipswich staying in the Championship or getting promoted to the Premier League.

He needs to be totally concentrated because of this, especially since today’s matchup with Cardiff City might be very important.

Hladky has performed admirably thus far this season, but he cannot afford to take his success for granted until the finish, when he will have had time to consider his accomplishments.

He’s obviously desired by Ipswich as well, and contract talks are still underway, so he shouldn’t be too concerned about being released.
