Kieran McKenna, the manager, offered his thoughts on Town’s 2-1 loss to Cardiff City on the road.

Kieffer Moore’s first goal on 79 minutes was cancelled out by goals from Ryan Wintle and Callum O’Dowda in stoppage time, as the Bluebirds defeated the Blues late in the game.

Kieran told TownTV, “For ninety minutes, it was a solid away performance again.”

“They were difficult to break down, but we had very good control of the game in the first half. They posed a threat with set plays, but not much with free plays.

“We pinned them in the second half and increased our pressure as the game progressed, but we didn’t create many opportunities since they are difficult to score on.

“We changed things for the better and started the game with a 1-0 lead.

We had a great opportunity to win, but we failed to handle the 10-minute added time and could not adequately protect our box. The only significant letdown is that we were deprived of witnessing what could have been a worthwhile victory.

Even though losing was heartbreaking, Kieran wants his team to grow and learn from the experience.

“You can tell the group has got the taste and thirst for that as well as a belief because we’ve felt the feeling of scoring late goals so often this year,” Kieran remarked.

We have a terrible sensation since, although we usually get to see games like these, we weren’t able to today.

Although unpleasant, it can strengthen you. Before the season ends, we could need to see a major game out, so we need to make sure we use today to improve for when it happens again.

“We will use this to make us stronger and the players will learn from it because we learn from every experience.”
