TalkSPORT reports that Newcastle United has eyed Ipswich Town left-back Leif Davis as a possible addition to their roster for the summer transfer season. The team views him as a great asset that fits in into the group.

With the player only expected to cost £10 million, this might prove to be a terrific purchase. West Ham United, the player’s English rival, has also expressed interest in signing the player, thus the Magpies will have competition.

Leif Davis is mentally aggressive.
Leif Davis progressed through Leeds United’s academy and was eventually selected for the first squad. He was loaned to AFC Bournemouth in 2021 after a few years. After that season, the defender was lured away by Ipswich Town for a meagre £1.2 million.

The English defender has made 33 appearances so far this season, contributing 10 assists to his 0 goals. In each game, he averages 1.8 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, and 1 clearing. According to statistics from whoscored, he has an over 80% successful passing rate and an average of 2.9 critical passes on the offensive end.

Although he prefers to play as a left back, Davis can also play as a centre back. He is referred to as a “modern-day attacking back” because of his skill in setting up passes and offering assistance. He is fully equipped with everything a left-back could possibly need.

Leif Davis may be a wise addition.
Leif Davis is someone Newcastle United hopes to add to their defence lineup in the summer. All things considered, it won’t be a bad value given the low acquisition cost. The fact that the player was raised in the Northeast would only work to their advantage.

In order to further his career, Davis would be open to relocating to the Premier League. But it will also rely on whther or not Ipswich Town is able to secure the promotion. With 75 points, they are ranked second in the Championship points standings.
