According to Taka Gazete, Borna Barisic will be released by Rangers when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
The Croatian international has reportedly started talks with Super Lig club Trabzonspor on the prospect of completing a free transfer, according to a report published on the Turkish news outlet’s website.
Borna Barisic has served the Rangers admirably.
Since moving from Osijek to Rangers in 2018, Barisic has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the team.
Throughout his 230 games with the Gers, the left-back has contributed 54 assists and 10 goals with his accurate long-range passes.
The Croatian played a huge role in helping the club lift their 55th league title in 2021 and reach the Europa League final in 2022.
However, under Philippe Clement, the Turkish international has now surpassed Barisic in the pecking order after being earlier brought in to become the team’s long-term replacement on the left side of the defence.
The Light Blues supporters will wish him luck in the next phase of his career once his contract eventually expires, albeit he will undoubtedly still have a part to play over the next weeks.
