Nuno Tavares, a player for Nottingham Forest, was recently interviewed by the Portuguese publication Jornal de Notícias.
Since his parent club Arsenal will be facing FC Porto in the Champions League tonight, he was asked about his opinion on the European clash.
Tavares also talked about his own career, especially regarding his current struggles, as he’s played very little this season.
According to the fullback, there’s a specific reason why he’s been suffering with injuries.
“I didn’t do my pre-season training, and that’s why I suffered that first injury. Now I was fine and I got injured again. Obviously I’m sad not to be doing what I love, but I’ll be back soon,” Nuno Tavares told Jornal de Notícias.
The Portuguese player was also asked about his future, as he could stay at Nottingham Forest or return to Arsenal at the end of the season.
“The focus at the moment is here, in Nottingham.”
Since being loaned to Nottingham Forest at the start of the season, Tavares has only made 11 appearances for the club, with 649 minutes on the pitch.
The Reds and Nuno Espírito Santo are still to come up with a potential date for his return, and perhaps they’ll have a better idea by the end of the international break.
With the situation dragging for so long, it’s getting harder to imagine the City Ground side making a big investment in his permanent transfer in the summer.
