Kelvin Wilson believes Nottingham Forest are desperate for Taiwo Awoniyi to step up and start scoring regular goals once again this season.

The former defender was speaking to the Forest Focus podcast.

What has Wilson stated regarding Awoniyi in the lead-up to Forest’s weekend match against Luton? Let’s investigate more closely.

What Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi said, according to Kelvin Wilson
It seems that the former player for Forest, Preston, and Celtic wants the striker to start scoring goals for the Reds once more.

Awoiyi has had a difficult season; following a groin operation, Forest lost him for about three months.

Awoniyi’s last goal came in a 2-0 victory over West Ham, and between now and the conclusion of the season, Forest would really love to see him get back to his goal-scoring ways.

“Do we have the time to be patient?” Wilson asked the Forest Focus podcast. We need him to fire now, but time is running out. Although I am aware of his injuries, we are counting on him to perform.

“Ideally, we could continue to bring him on for the final 20 minutes to increase his fitness while we’d be in the middle of the table. We must have him scoring goals immediately; we cannot afford to give him more time.

Awoniyi is going to improve before the season is out.
Between now and the conclusion of the season, the Reds are in dire need of the 26-year-old to start fire.

Forest will need Awoniyi to be the guy on the firing line if they are to go on a winning streak.

Nuno Espirito Santo started Chris Wood in the attacking role on Sunday, which may indicate that Awoniyi isn’t quite ready just yet.

That is concerning, and it was strange that Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga were excluded from the meeting as well.

Wilson’s most recent evaluation is accurate, and if Forest wants to stay in the Premier League the next season, Awoniyi needs to start playing better.
