Football Insider has received information from sources that Newcastle United intends to pursue a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.
At St. James’ Park, the Magpies presently have Paul Gillespie, Loris Karius, Nick Pope, and Martin Dubravka on their roster. However, they are eager to expand their possibilities by adding another goalkeeper.
Due to Pope’s injury, which has kept him out since December, Dubravka has once again had to take over as Eddie Howe’s team’s starting goalkeeper.
Both Karius and Gillespie are expected to leave Newcastle in June since it is thought that neither player’s contract will be extended by Newcastle.
Karius joined the Magpies in 2022 and has played in just two games, while Gillespie, 31, arrived from Motherwell in 2020 and has only made three senior appearances.

Pope has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Newcastle since joining the club from Burnley in 2022.
In 62 games for the team, the England international has 26 clean sheets, 52 goals against, and was a key player in securing Champions League qualification the previous season.
Dubravka joined the team in 2018 after leaving Sparta Prague, and his contract is set to expire in June 2025.
For the Tyneside club, he has played in 153 games and recorded 44 clean sheets.
This season, the Slovakian international has made 20 appearances, giving up 34 goals while maintaining six clean sheets.
Newcastle saw their spending limited in the January window due to Financial Fair Play restrictions but will once again have a significant budget this summer.
