Deniz Undav, a Brighton & Hove Albion player, has been playing effectively for VfB Stuttgart on loan since the summer, tallying 15 goals and five assists in 24 appearances.
Due to the forward’s success, there have been rumors in Germany that the Bundesliga team might purchase him in the summer. Undav disclosed last month that he needed his future to be clarified as quickly as possible.
During an interview with Sky Deutschland, the footballer, who is owned by Brighton, was questioned explicitly if he planned to stay at Stuttgart after this season.
Brighton and I are bound by a contract. I plan to return to Brighton in the summer as things stand. The season is still lengthy, though. It’s all about VfB. I wish to achieve maximum success. VfB is an excellent team. It pleases me to be here. The supporters are amazing. The staff has treated me kindly and I’ve blended effectively. In any case, I have nothing against it,” he remarked.
The German’s contract with The Amex expires in 2026, and his remarks suggest Roberto De Zerbi’s team may need to decide how to go with him.
According to recent reports, the 27-year-old will receive his first call-up for Germany during this month’s international break as a result of his excellent performances for Stuttgart.
Undav played for German clubs in the lower divisions until relocating to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 2020. His performances for the Jupiler Pro League team won Brighton over to signing him in 2022. He was loaned to Stuttgart after failing to maintain his Union Saint-Gilloise level of play with the Seagulls.
Undav responded to a question from Sky regarding his “late career” by saying, “There are still moments when I feel like I’ve only scored four goals in the Bundesliga. How does that occur? No one gave me any faith. I lacked confidence in myself.
“I played football only for enjoyment. Additionally, tell your wife and family that you’ve succeeded after all while you’re at home. It’s incredible to feel as though I’ve shown those who never thought I could be capable. It was a different career route, and it took longer than I had anticipated.
