Leeds defeated Sheffield Wednesday 1–11, demonstrating the team’s strength, particularly considering Daniel Farke’s attacking options.

One of the Owls’ key players, Ian Poveda, who was on loan from Leeds, was ineligible, which did not help the team.

Poveda shares message underlining happiness at Wednesday

After only a few games, Poveda became a fan favorite at Wednesday as his parent club easily defeated his loan club 2-0. This illustrates the disparity in squad depth that prevented Leeds from finding a spot for the Colombian international.

Since he came, Owls supporters have taken notice of his Instagram activity, since he regularly makes fun of the opponents while the team is on a winning streak.

But this time, there was no joke about Leeds; instead, he just posted a message expressing his gratitude for the Hillsborough fan base’s support, even in the absence of himself:

Permanent move away from Leeds for Poveda almost certain this summer

It’s not entirely certain that Poveda’s loan will mean his departure from Elland Road in the last few months of his contract, but it appears clear.

It’s unclear where he ends up, but Wednesday’s battle to stay in the second division makes his presence in the Championship more than worthwhile.

He is a fan favorite and has established himself as a mainstay in his manager’s starting lineup for the first time while on loan, thus a permanent contract appears to be imminent at this point.

It remains to be seen if Wednesday can afford a free transfer, but if Danny Rohl is unable to sign him, a lot of other teams will undoubtedly be pleased with what they see.

When Poveda returns to action tomorrow against Ipswich Town, he might significantly help Leeds’ chances of promotion.
