Roberto De Zerbi has been named as a potential Newcastle United candidate to replace Eddie Howe

There are rumors that Roberto De Zerbi is being considered by Newcastle United as a possible Eddie Howe replacement.

The 46-year-old has been the subject of increasing speculation in recent weeks due to the Magpies’ ongoing Premier League struggles. Shields Gazette is aware that Howe’s Toon leaders are still very much in support of him, although there have been rumblings over his future, mostly in the media.

The two main factors contributing to Newcastle’s disappointing season have been identified as their devastating injury list and the additional schedule congestion brought on by the Champions League. Nevertheless, United’s form has not improved, and the treatment table has started to clear up.

Although the 3-2 loss to Chelsea on Monday only made matters worse, Howe is currently expected to lead the team until May. Newcastle still has a chance to play in Europe the next season and to advance further in the FA Cup, even though they will have to travel to Manchester City tomorrow.

But a dismal finish to the season might compel the club’s aspirational owners to make a choice. If the Magpies decide to make a move, Brighton boss De Zerbi is reportedly in the running, according to GiveMeSport.

After being hired eighteen months ago, the Italian led Brighton to their maiden European campaign. De Zerbi is being connected to Liverpool in an attempt to succeed Jurgen Klopp, who will retire in around nine years.

Despite the Seagulls’ setback in their re-established push for continental football, the news was released. Brighton has only won three of its previous nine top-flight matches after being eliminated from the Europa League by Roma in midweek.
