Chris Jack claims that Borna Barisic is nearing the “natural end” of his Rangers career and appears to be headed for “one big pay day” in Turkey.

Following reports that the left-back had accepted a transfer to Trabzonspor, the writer stated on the Rangers Review Morning Briefing on March 20 that the player appeared to be in the “final weeks” of his Gers career.

Jack said (3m 5s): “We are in the final weeks of his Rangers career. He’s been a good servant for Rangers, he’s played his part in some big games, he’s played his part in some big disappointments, but he’s not alone in that…

“He’s not leaving with the medal haul that he perhaps should have but I think you could say that about so many of this squad… overall he’s been a great buy and overall he’s been great to deal with and I certainly wish him well for the next stage of his career.

“It’s looking like one big payday. You’d imagine he probably does a couple of years in Turkey and then maybe goes back to Croatia and then time to hang up the boots. You sometimes get a feeling with players that it’s coming time to the end, a natural end, and I think that’s the case with Barisic.”

Under Philippe Clement, Ranger will get a full-back refresh. Barisic has made 230 appearances for Glasgow and counting, so it seems like the appropriate option to make this deal at this time.

One may legitimately argue that he had contributed to Rangers’ 55th championship victory and that the team ought to have sold him earlier for a profit.

They may have had that as their goal a year ago, but Ridvan Yilmaz needed an additional season to establish himself, and the Turk may still decide to leave in the summer after two managers.

Though it was also anticipated that Jefte would arrive during the January window, Philippe Clement is believed to be considering a position revamp.

Barisic has been a consistent presence for the most part of the remaining time, despite drawing negative notice in multiple Old Firm derbies.

Between now and his departure to the Turkish Super Lig, he will probably have a part to play, and he still has a chance to win a treble.
