According to sources who spoke with Football Insider this summer, Rangers might not be able to turn down a suitor’s offer for captain James Tavernier.

On Monday, March 18, Football Insider stated that the Ibrox club is hesitant to transfer Tavernier, 32, despite rumors that Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League team, Al-Ettifaq, is interested.

Prior to the summer window, there have been rumors that Al-Ettifaq and other PiF-owned clubs are interested.

Rangers believe Tavernier is essential to their prospects of participating in the Champions League the next season, hence they are unwilling to let him leave the team.

But according to a reliable source who spoke with Football Insider, “money talks,” therefore if the appropriate deal comes along, the Glasgow giants might have to take it into consideration.

Rangers may take up Tavernier’s enormous offer because “money talks.”
Tavernier is thought to still view the Rangers as his top priority, although any offer from the Middle East is probably going to be very lucrative.

Given that his contract expires in May 2026, the Englishman will command a high sum.

Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard oversees Al-Ettifaq, who have been connected to the full-back, while former Rangers director of football Mark Allen works for the team.

Thus far in the 2023–24 season, Tavernier has made 47 appearances in all competitions, tallying 21 goals and 10 assists.

The full-back became a member of the Ibrox team in 2015, and Gerrard named him club captain in July 2018.
