The rumour that Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is nearing a deal with Trabzonspor is supported by reports from Croatia.

Over the past week or two, there have been strong rumors that the Turkish Super Lig champions are hoping to recruit the Croatian international when his current deal expires.

These claims intensified when it was suggested Borna Barisic’s representation would be at this week’s TransferRoom Summit in Italy trying to broker a deal.

Now, all the signs are suggesting a move to Turkey is edging closer for the Rangers left-back who might have some unfinished business at the club between now and the end of the season.

Borna Barisic to Trabzonspor

Whilst reports in Turkey suggested that a deal had been arranged, these fresh reports in the Croatian media appear to echo those claims.

According to Germanijak, a transaction is almost complete, with personal details agreed upon but nothing officially inked yet.

Borna Barisic has been a regular at Ibrox since 2018, therefore his move to Trabzonspor would mark the end of an era for the former captain of NK Osijek.

Borna Barisic has had ups and downs in his play over his six years in Glasgow, but he is still well-liked by the Ibrox faithful, and the club’s supporters acknowledge his contribution.

Borna Barisic has dedicated his best years to the team, therefore if he decides to leave this summer, the Rangers fans will give him a hero’s sendoff.

Is a summer makeover for the Rangers imminent?
The issue with the Rangers team going into the summer is also brought into stark relief by the transfer.

Six of the team’s best first-team players, including high earners like Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, John Lundstram, and Borna Barisic, have their contracts expiring.

This summer at Ibrox, there may be significant changes in store. Add to the mix rumors that Saudi Arabian teams are seriously considering James Tavernier as a target.

While there is still talk of a January Brazilian target, Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz has performed admirably at left back in recent weeks.
