Football Scotland reports that Turkish powerhouse Trabzonspor has put in a bid for Rangers left-back Borna Barisic this summer.
The news site stated on March 21 that representatives of the Croatian national team would determine this summer whether or not to make the move, but no decision has been made.
The 31-year-old defender is open to talks with clubs outside of Scotland, so it’s likely that the bid was an offer to him. His contract expires at the end of the current campaign, making him a free agent.
Will Barisic be heading out of town come summertime?
According to certain sources, Barisic had already reached an agreement to leave Rangers at the end of the current campaign.
Barisic’s contract is about to expire, giving him the chance to look into fresh challenges and possibly land a big deal somewhere else.
Barisic’s playing time at Ibrox may be limited due to the rise of Ridvan Yilmaz and possible additions like Jefte, which may prompt him to look for regular first-team action elsewhere.
Furthermore, Barisic might find the financial perks of the Trabzonspor offer alluring as he seeks to safeguard his future.
Barisic, who is 31 years old, may view this as a chance to take advantage of fresh surroundings and experiences in his football career.
It makes sense for him to transfer to a slower-paced league because he is not the player he was in his prime.
