Germanijak reports that Rangers defender Borna Barisic will likely start in place of Eren Elmali for Trabzonspor.
According to a March 21 report from a Croatian media outlet, Barisic is expected to secure the Turkish defender’s job, even though he only moved two seasons ago.
The Gers left-back and Trabzonspor are rumored to have already reached a personal terms agreement.
Rangers and Barisic will split up in the summer?
Barisic’s uncertain future is hinted at by the internal tensions inside Rangers.
Ridvan Yilmaz is the left-back of choice for Philippe Clement, a move that may marginalize Barisic.
Furthermore, it’s possible that the Croat’s inconsistent play at left defense for the Ibrox team damaged his reputation among the group.
Due to his unreliability, Barisic has already been linked to a move, which may have been the final factor in the decision to look into other options.
As such, Barisic’s potential exit fits with internal team dynamics as well as tactical considerations, which makes his transfer to Trabzonspor a likely outcome.
In the summer, hopefully, the Gers will add another left-back to the roster, ideally one who can compete with Yilmaz for a starting position.
