Prior to their arrival back from the international break, Nottingham Forest appears to be getting an injury boost.
Next Saturday, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will play Crystal Palace, led by Oliver Glasner, at the City Ground.
And while they attempt to recover from their most recent point deduction, it appears they might have one of their key players fit for the match.
News of Chris Wood’s injuries
After taking a knock in the 75th minute of the recent stalemate with Luton Town, Chris Wood was substituted out.
It appears, though, that this was merely a precautionary change, as the New Zealand international should be OK for the match versus Palace.
The 32-year-old is anticipated to be fit for the match on Saturday, according to The Telegraph.
Despite having a hamstring problem lately, Wood has been active for Espirito Santo in the last two games, even scoring against the Hatters.
What Nuno said about Chris Wood Forest Forest has had a difficult season, and their current financial troubles haven’t helped them in their fight against the drop.
Over the international break, Forest lost four points to the Premier League, dropping them into the relegation zone.
However, this injury boost for the match versus Palace gives some reason for hope.
With nine goals for Forest in the Premier League alone, the £15 million striker has had a strong season.
Three of those came against his former side, Newcastle United, late last year during his fine run of form.
Following the game, Espirito Santo hailed the striker for his efforts on goal, he said: “Chris Wood, we know him, everybody knows him. He’s been in the game for a while now, but the way he did it today, how he scored, how he was in the right moments — the second goal is beautiful, it’s beautiful, the one-v-one and then the composure to just flick the ball over the goalkeeper, so thank you, Chris, for the job today.
“I really hope that he does it again because the talent is there.”
And it seems Forest will need to have Wood firing at his absolute best if they want to stay up this season.
They only sit one point adrift in 18th place following the points deduction.
