Under Daniel Farke, Leeds United is a strong contender to return to the Premier League this season.
With less than ten games left in the season, the Whites have impressively pulled away from Leicester City to take the lead in the Championship.
Leeds has to earn promotion back to the top division in order to retain their current squad.
Yes, there are fans of several players away from Elland Road.
In addition, journalist Dean Jones claims that if Leeds does not advance, £35 million acquisition Georginio Rutter may be headed elsewhere.
Leeds will lose Rutter if they don’t get promoted.
Journalist Jones stated in an interview with GiveMeSport that other teams are eager for Rutter to leave Elland Road, following in the footsteps of players like Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville.
“Rutter was a big deal when he signed with Leeds, and things are going well today, even if he obviously had a tough start. He will feel very much a part of it, having played in practically all of Leeds’ games. He will be driven to return to the Premier League, and it appears like he can do so with Leeds right now, so I believe it would be the best situation for him,” Jones remarked.
However, if Leeds didn’t get promoted, a few teams might start to consider him. Not that he would go, but Leeds is in a big moment, and if they don’t rise to the occasion, there’s a chance that the team will falter a bit. I would include Rutter as someone who would draw interest since Gnonto and Summerville would probably depart.
Leeds at a pivotal juncture
Leeds now have a team that is far too excellent for the Championship, thus it will be a nightmare for them if they are not promoted.
They’ve performed admirably to retake the top spot in the table, but as Jones notes, they have several players who, should they not play, would just be out.
Rutter has performed admirably for Leeds this season. However, he is too good to spend another season in the second division, and much like Summerville and Gnonto, he will be in high demand.
It’s imperative that Leeds get promotion right away. Should they fail to accomplish so, they might need to undertake a major rebuild.
