Mansfield Town’s Saturday draw with Colchester United will have pleased Wrexham, as the Red Dragons were able to narrow the deficit later in the day.

Consequently, what happened?
Twelve minutes into the match at Field Mill, Harry Anderson’s low shot from a tight angle into the bottom left corner gave the U’s an unexpected lead. As the Essex squad was on goal differential and barely out of the drop zone, Mansfield was anticipated to romp to three points. Lewis Brunt’s equalizer gave the league leaders a chance to get back into the game, but they were unable to secure the crucial victory.

THE LARGER IMAGE
Mansfield’s loss of two points has given those chasing them the chance to get closer. If Wrexham wins on the road against Grimsby Town, they will have the opportunity to get within three points of the top spot. The Red Dragons will, meanwhile, be keeping a close eye on Stockport and MK Dons, who may yet stand in the way of their automatic promotion. There are three spots available.

WERE YOU AWARENESS?
It was disclosed that Wrexham’s club worth has more than tripled since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over as their Hollywood owners. The club’s director, Shaun Harvey, revealed that the club’s valuation has increased from £2 million ($2.5 million) to £9 million ($11 million) since February 2021. If the Red Dragons receive another promotion, the club’s stock will undoubtedly keep rising.

MANSFIELD AND WREXHAM’S FUTURE?
Next weekend, there will be a significant League Two top-of-the-table match between the two teams. With just six games left in the season, the Red Dragons can tie for first place if they defeat both Grimsby and Mansfield.
