According to former Everton manager Keith Wyness, Nottingham Forest might lose two more points if they are unable to successfully challenge their opening penalty.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated the Premier League will want Forest and Everton’s cases “wrapped up nice and quickly” in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

With nine games remaining in the Premier League this season, Nottingham Forest is currently in the relegation zone after losing four points earlier this week (18 March).

Forest acknowledged that their expenditure of £34.5 million over their allowed loss level of £61 million constituted a violation of the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

Due to their cooperation with the process, the Midlands club’s six-point penalty—three points for the breach and an additional three for its severity—was reduced to two points.

Wyness says that a Nottingham Forest appeal could result in additional deductions.
But Wyness warned Forest they would lose those points if they challenge the ruling of the impartial panel.

For example, Wyness stated on Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast that the Premier League does not want this to continue and drag on much longer.

“Forest might be considering accepting the four points.

“It could, in theory, go to six points if they do appeal.

“If Forest returns and files an appeal, the Premier League, which awarded them two points back for good behavior, may deduct them once more.

“They want this resolved as soon as possible.”
