Junior Robinson, a star of the West Ham Academy, has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract, the club has confirmed.

The 19-year-old made an impression for Steve Potts’ U21 team, and the Hammers confirmed via their official website [23 March] that he has earned a new contract at the London Stadium.

The full-back, who is comfortable playing at wing-back, wide midfield or winger, has been starring at academy level this season and is delighted to have signed a new deal.

Speaking about the contract on Saturday (23 March), Robinson said: “I’m really happy to get another contract with the club I have been at since I was six, so it is a huge moment for me.

“It shows that West Ham has a big trust in me and believes I can make the next step into the first team and hopefully I can show them that I can do that.

“West Ham has always been my team and my friends all support West Ham, so it is my dream to play here.”

Youth plan continues to emerge at West Ham United

David Moyes will need to keep one eye on the youth developments at the club, with several players working towards special senior debuts at the London Stadium.

Josh Ajala, Daniel Rigge and Keenan-Appiah Forson are all young players who have been highlighted in recent weeks, either impressing within the youth ranks or out on loan.

Freddie Potts has also shown lots of promise while on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, with the 20-year-old midfielder making 36 appearances and gathering plenty of valuable experience.

In addition to this, the recent first-team debut handed to George Earthy by Moyes shows a clear route from the academy to the senior team, having entered the field as a substitute during the Hammers’ 5-0 win over Freiburg in the Europa League on Thursday 14 March.

Of course, Robinson’s main aim will be to be given the opportunity to prove himself at senior level, having been able to call the London Stadium his home for nearly 14 years.
