After his Rangers loan at Alaves expires, Ianis Hagi has stated that he wants to remain in La Liga.
Michael Beale sent the Romanian on loan to the Spanish top tier last summer after he recovered from a major knee injury. This season, he has made 24 appearances and has two goals and one assist.
While on international service for his country, the Romanian spoke with Spanish publication Marca about his future. And given that he spends time away from Rangers, his response to the question “Do you see yourself here in the future, a year from now” was unequivocal.
Yes, that is where I want to be, Hagi replied. I feel that this game has the potential to bring out the best in me, and it is the football in which I wish to develop. After just six to seven months here, I already feel that I’ve improved as a player and that my training and playing have improved daily.
“I think that soon my best traits will be shown, and I will finally be able to show everyone who I am. I see development every day. I adore La Liga’s caliber as well as everything about Spain, including the teams, player-team rivalry, and local pressure.
“I believe this is the league I can excel in and fully express all of my abilities. I have watched this league since I was a young child, and I have always dreamed of being here. I intend to stay here for a very long period now that I’m here.”
