Paul Mullin, a striker for Wrexham, says he doesn’t care if the team wins promotion and he scores 100 goals this season.
Mullin, 29, scored in Wrexham’s 3-1 victory over Grimsby Town, putting him three goals shy of a century with the team.
Three points behind Mansfield Town, the league leaders, whom the Dragons will face on Good Friday, they are third in League Two.
“If I didn’t score another goal and we went up then my job’s done,” Mullin stated.
“I don’t really think about it, but it will be a fantastic accomplishment.
“It will be lovely to get there as quickly as possible, but equally if I don’t get there at all but we keep winning every week then I’ll be happy.”
Following a goalless draw against Harrogate Town and a 1-0 loss to Tranmere in their previous two home games, Wrexham’s victory at Blundell Park came as a relief.
There are seven games left for Phil Parkinson’s team, which begins on Friday at home against Mansfield, the current leaders.
“They’re a brilliant side and have been brilliant all season,” Mullin stated.
It is our responsibility to go out there and represent ourselves admirably in the hopes of winning the match.
“We will advance if we win every game. That won’t be as easy as it seems; this will be a very difficult task.
“In our changing room as well as the other changing rooms, everyone will be ready for a fight.
It promises to be an extremely thrilling conclusion to the season.
“But I don’t worry about the other teams – we concentrate on ourselves.”
As previously said by manager Parkinson, Wrexham needs to ‘enjoy’ the pressure of contending for the League Two title.
Mullin, who arrived from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021, is unaffected by the high standards.
“Sometimes it does feel like it’s a lot of pressure on me to deliver,” Mullin stated.
However, I also applied that pressure to myself.
“I believe that’s where my strength lies—under pressure. I truly like being in those circumstances where you succeed.
It’s something I enjoy doing and something I embrace.
“If you haven’t got pressure in your job then you’re not doing the right job.”
