One player, Lucas Paqueta, who is arguably the greatest for West Ham, has acknowledged having language difficulties.

The magnificent Brazilian did promise to continue his education in order to improve his communication skills with the West Ham staff and colleagues.
Emerson Palmieri, a Brazilian-born colleague and buddy who speaks Portuguese, has been translating for Paqueta in the interim.
In an interview earlier this season, Paqueta surprised fans with his noticeably better command of the English language.
But now a West Ham star has shared a hilarious misunderstanding between David Moyes and Paqueta.

It’s reasonable to argue that Paqueta had some adjustment issues in his early West Ham years.
Additionally, Emerson recounts how the first discussion between Scotsman Moyes and Paqueta was where he should play in a video posted on the club’s YouTube site.
Speaking about the language barrier, Paqueta said in his own tongue to Brazilian influencer Fred Bruno, “Survivor mode (level English), that’s my goal now.”

“Man, I believe I would be embarrassed if someone were to film me because of how often I say “Yes” and “Good.” If someone asked me if I wanted to die, I would respond, “Yes, yes, good, good.”
Then Emerson steps in to explain about Paqueta’s miscommunication with his boss in Glasgow.
The coach’s question, “Do you prefer to play here, or there?’ while pointing to various spots on the tactics board, was the finest part, though. And Paqueta responds, “Yeah.”
And he replied, “Well, but this or that.” And I said, “Yeah,” laughing,” Paqueta continues.
“I can play all positions, as I mentioned earlier, so I can leave the conversation earlier!”
