Wesley Moraes of Stoke City, who was previously with Diego Carlos of Aston Villa, has taken advantage of the international break to travel overseas and continue working on his fitness in a new setting. Before Wesley went on loan to Levante in the summer of 2022, Carlos and Wesley had a brief period of time together at Villa.

Then, in the summer of last year, the striker committed himself to the Potters permanently, shortly after Carlos had begun to recover from a devastating Achilles injury that sidelined him until May. Since they’ve been gone throughout this time and improving their fitness, it’s obvious that the two got along well during their time together at Villa.

Carlos, 31, posted a video of himself and Wesley, 27, working out with weights, bikes, and air runners, among other things. Despite the demanding schedule, they both seemed to be in a good mood. Carlos proudly sported his Brazil top with his number and name on the back. Although he has never received a senior cap, he did participate in six games with Douglas Luiz when they won the 2021 Olympic gold.

Carlos said, “No days off,” on social media. “I train with my partner Wesley during our days in Dubai, surround yourself with people who inspire you to be better every day!”

Wesley has not fared well at Stoke; the Potters are struggling overall, sitting near the bottom of the Championship and not far from the danger of relegation. Wesley, who was brought in by current manager Steven Schumacher from Alex Neil’s team, has only appeared in 20 games this season and has not scored. In 2024, he appears just twice.

When the Championship starts on Good Friday, Stoke will have eight games remaining, starting with a trip to Hull City, two points and three places above the relegation zone. Wesley’s one-year contract expires at the end of the current season, thus he is running out of time to leave any kind of mark.
