Wrexham defeated Grimsby thanks to a brace from Andy Cannon and a goal from Paul Mullin. Parkinson has stated that he tried to line up in a way that would surprise their opponents, starting Elliot Lee in a No. 10 role. Rob McElhenney tweeted his excitement at the outcome.

PARKINSON’S MENTION
Parkinson said to reporters, “We made a small alteration to the shape. Since I knew Grimsby had put a lot of effort into stopping us, we decided to position Elliot Lee behind the front two, and it really helped us.

It opened our eyes to a new perspective. We scored some fantastic goals because Tom (O’Connor) is so good at simply picking up the pieces and covering gaps when other players move forward.”

Next?
Next up for Wrexham is a big encounter against leaders Mansfield on Friday that could make or break their chances of earning immediate promotion.
