No Deal Is Coming From Dallas Cowboys

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that a deal does not appear to be imminent. According to Rapoport, Jones and the Cowboys have a “mutual understanding” of the terms of the contract. Jones did not, however, imply that they will now come to an agreement:

What is Dak Prescott’s current contract situation? Well, his contract is still in effect for another year. His basic compensation alone is expected to exceed $29 million.

What appears to be the issue, though, is the salary the Cowboys must give him beyond 2024. According to earlier rumors, Dallas could need to pay Prescott about $60 million annually in order to secure his long-term contract. The Cowboys may want more time to consider if Prescott is worth that much money, as this report suggests.
