According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Nottingham Forest has made Maurizio Sarri their top target to become their next manager.

The Premier League team is now led by Nuno Espírito Santo, who was named Steve Cooper’s replacement in December.

The Portuguese strategist has only managed five more points in the last nine games despite helping Nottingham Forest earn six points from their opening three league games.

They also lost four points earlier in the month for breaking the Premier League’s sustainability and profitability regulations. The Reds are now one point behind Luton Town, who are ranked 17th in the table, in 18th place.
According to the journalist, Nuno Espírito Santo has requested that the 65-year-old Italian “take over” immediately after he “received a phone call” from Nottingham Forest.

Pedullà adds that Nottingham Forest has extended a three-year contract offer to the former Chelsea manager, who has been out of work since departing Lazio earlier this month. Sarri, however, declined the offer because he had other ideas for the future.

Sarri intends to take a sabbatical till the end of the current season, after which she will search for a new enterprise in the summer.
