Jordan Pickford, the starting goalkeeper for Everton, made a “diabolical” mistake for England during their exhibition match against Belgium.

TalkSPORT analyst Andy Townsend says as much, while Ally McCoist calls the error “madness.”

On Tuesday, March26, the goalkeeper gave up the first goal with a thoughtless pass into the middle of the pitch, and Youri Tielemans scored the goal right behind him.

Townsend stated on talkSPORT, “Jordan Pickford made a diabolical error.” “I don’t care what era you’re kicking it in, that ball is never on, never has been, and never will be.

“It’s ridiculous that he tried that ball from where he was,” McCoist said, adding “Madness,” and Townsend said, “That’s very, very careless.”

Everton star Jordan Pickford has an unusually irrational moment for England
For many years, Pickford has been a very dependable player for the Toffees and the Three Lions, but he will be frustrated with the way he allowed the first goal to be scored at Wembley.

Shot-stopper Amadou Onana of Goodison Park easily gained possession of the ball after the midfielder found fellow countryman Tielemans, and the ball was soon in the net.

The latter didn’t end his scoring there, putting a header past Pickford to secure a brace in the 2-2 draw, with Ivan Toney and Jude Bellingham on target for the hosts.

It was certainly a good test for Gareth Southgate and his players, who would have been keen to recover from their 1-0 friendly defeat to Brazil.

Pickford meanwhile will be desperate to make amends and impress for the Toffees when they return to action, with a trip to Bournemouth up next on Saturday (30 March).
