Regarding the Celtic board’s unwillingness to make accommodations for The Celtic End for the women’s team matches against Hibs and Hearts, The Green Brigade has released a harsh statement.
CEO Michael Nicholson and CFO Chris McKay have declined to endorse the proposals this time around, despite the fact that similar initiatives were successful last season and the Scottish Women’s Premier League attracted record attendances to Parkhead.
The statement highlighted the differences between the club’s leadership’s current position and last year’s cooperative efforts to promote women’s matches, expressing regret and displeasure with the decision. The Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic believe that the decision not to support The Celtic End is a lost chance to further strengthen the momentum and support for Celtic FC Women and improve the Celtic Park fan experience.
The groups said that Nicholson and McKay were targeting the fan-driven movement with malice and putting other worries ahead of the possible advantages of having a lively goal-end standing area.
This action not only contradicts the club’s earlier declarations, but it also undercuts the promotion of the women’s game.
The Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic have declared their intention to skip what may be pivotal Celtic FC Women games at Celtic Park due to the board’s position.
