Regular left-back Angelino’s loan agreement was terminated by Galatasaray during the winter transfer window in order to avoid invoking an appearance-based purchase clause. As a result, RB Leipzig transferred the Spaniard from Turkey to Serie A team Roma.

The Turkish defender, who joined from Besiktas, was a bit player in 2022–2023; but, this season, he has dethroned Borna Barisic to take Philippe Clement’s spot as the starting left back. He has already appeared in 22 Scottish Premiership games, and on March 30, when they play Hibernian, he should increase to that total.

Although Barisic started most of the games before to the year’s start, Yilmaz was ranked second in the 2023–24 campaign. However, the Croatian has only played in four league games this year.

Clement will be happy to retain onto his developing player, but if Barisic decides to go in quest of consistent playing time, he could have to look at other options.
