Midfield standout Lucas Paqueta is expected to be on Man City’s radar once more, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.

If the 26-year-old’s allegations of breaking betting rules are withdrawn by the FA, the Irons plan to make another move for him.

West Ham midfielder Paqueta and his team are planning legal action against the FA should they choose not to charge him, according to information obtained by Football Insider on February 20.

The probe began in the summer of last year, and the Brazil international is said to have been “deeply unhappy” to learn that his transfer to Man City was rejected.

Before the summer window, Pep Guardiola’s team is still keeping an eye on things and is in the background.

Football Insider has been informed by a reliable source that West Ham will not obstruct Paqueta’s progress if their demand is fulfilled, as they are aware of his strong desire to transfer.

Prior to the breakdown of the deal, City had reached an agreement in principle for an £80 million deal, but as the probe became public, they were compelled to focus on signing Wolves star Matheus Nunes.

Paqueta has persisted in playing for Brazil and West Ham in spite of the current circumstances.

He has made 33 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, notching seven goals and six assists.

The 26-year-old joined West Ham from Lyon in 2022 and has a contract with the club running until June 2027 – with an option for an extra year.

He has primarily played on the left flank for David Moyes’ side this term but can also feature in attacking midfield.
