Amadou Onana of Everton received a message on social media from Anthony Gordon, a top player for Newcastle United.

It happened after the two, who were playing for Belgium and England respectively, squared off in an international friendly.

Onana played the full 90 minutes while Gordon came on as a late substitution as the two countries drew 2-2 on Tuesday, March 26 at Wembley.

Onana took to social media on Thursday, March 27, sharing on Instagram, “Awesome performance at Wembley, but unfortunate ending.” The players responded, “Proud of this team, see you all in June,” including former Goodison star Gordon.

Amadou Onana, a talented player for Everton, hopes to excel for Belgium at Euro 2024.
The star midfield player Onana had a hectic international break. Prior to his appearance at Wembley, he played a goalless draw away to Ireland off the bench.

Undoubtedly, the Toffees man will travel to Germany this summer with his country, but it’s unclear what part he’ll play.

Belgium will fancy their chances of going far at the major tournament having been drawn in Group E alongside Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine.

Gordon meanwhile started as the Three Lions lost 1-0 to Brazil before his substitute appearance in the second friendly at Wembley.

He has done a superb job at Newcastle this season, having initially struggled following his switch from Goodison Park.

But the winger faces an anxious wait over a potential Euro 2024 spot, with Gareth Southgate boasting a lot of talented options in that area.

England will also be confident of progressing far this summer, but must first overcome Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark in Group C.
