The SPFL has confirmed that visiting fans will once again be able to attend Rangers’ Old Firm matches against Celtic at Parkhead and Ibrox next season.

The Scottish football regulatory body announced on Friday, March 29, on its website that both Glasgow teams will receive a five percent allocation for away games for both Old Firm fixtures in the 2024–2025 season.

The final two games of the 2023–2024 campaign will, nevertheless, only be played in front of home fans. As long as both clubs fulfill the SPFL’s requirements at both stadiums, these new rules will be put into effect.

Will there be Celtic supporters at Ibrox for the Old Firm matchup against Rangers?
Commentators and supporters have expressed their dissatisfaction with the absence of away fans at Parkhead and Ibrox in recent seasons, and it is great to see a compromise achieved to let away fans back into stadiums.

Even while five percent is still a pitiful sum, it is a positive start, and perhaps, as long as Old Firm teams continue to play well without further fan unrest, the percentage will increase.

One of the most thrilling football matches, the Glasgow derby has lost some of its appeal in recent years due to the absence of traveling fans. What really makes derby days unique throughout the UK is the back-and-forth between supporters.

When Rangers are permitted to go across Glasgow the following year, they hope to impress their supporters at Parkhead by winning the last two Old Firm games of the current campaign.
