Before our match against Newcastle United today, David Moyes addressed a message to the West Ham United supporters.

Today is our Premier League match against Newcastle, and David Moyes gave a speech about the West Ham supporters before the game.

In a press conference yesterday, the Hammers manager indicated that Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta are both questionable for the match on Tyneside.

But he also added something else that the Hammers supporters won’t be happy with.

The bulk of West Ham supporters are sick of Moyes’s style of play; his negative strategies and mainly set-piece-based system have made many of us want him fired.

Since arriving back at the London Stadium in December 2019, Moyes has performed admirably. In the past season, he brought us to our first major prize since 1980 and lead us to three consecutive European campaigns.

The belief among the supporters is that he has played his last game for the team, though. Is he able to elevate us above seventh place? It’s quite unlikely.

The way the Scot arranges his team at the London Stadium, particularly when playing lower-tier teams, is the primary grievance shared by most fans with the player. When the team plays such a passive style of football with ten guys behind the ball, it’s really difficult to create a positive environment.

Today, we go to St. James’ Park to play Newcastle, and Tyneside is usually a great place to be.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Moyes utilized the Toon’s backing as a club to punish the Hammers supporters, but I thought he handled it in a very cunning and passive-aggressive manner.

David Moyes addresses West Ham supporters
The 60-year-old manager of the Hammers has made a few jabs at the team’s supporters in the past. When he implied in December that we as a fan base are ungrateful, it was a really cheap shot.

And now, as WHUFC.com reports, Moyes has issued a message to the West Ham fans that was strongly laced with a genuine sense of passive-aggression:

“Your assistance is essential. Among the best parks in the nation is most likely St. James’ Park. Their crew has always been quite enthusiastic, but I believe their level of devotion has increased due to the success they have had over the last year or two. We need the supporters to be there for us throughout this crucial part of the season as we at West Ham have had some incredible seasons. In the upcoming games at London Stadium and away from home, let’s hope they’re all behind us.

Irrespective of how you interpret those remarks, Moyes’s passive-aggressiveness is evident.

As previously said, there must to be no ill will toward the gaffer. It’s acceptable to want him to go on and to be appreciative of what he did at the club. The two do not preclude one another.

David Moyes occasionally has a tendency to talk down to the West Ham supporters, and I think he did it yesterday as well. Dave, I can assure you that every single West Ham supporter will be behind you if you can give us a footballing style to brag about at home.
