Leeds United hosts Hull City on Monday night as they quickly get back to their Championship promotion pursuit. Six players are expected to miss the game, and a star is a serious doubt.
In Friday night’s return to play against Watford, Leeds was held to a 2-2 draw that kept Ipswich Town a point ahead of them in the league. Leeds will be eager to get back on track. Leeds, in second place, leads third-place Leicester City by one point as well because they still have a game in hand.
Hull, on the other hand, lost 2-0 to Stoke City at home on Good Friday, dropping Liam Rosenior’s team to ninth place and six points out of the play-offs with a game remaining. For Monday night’s match under the Elland Road lights, Hull and Leeds will both be without important players. Here, we go over the team news from both sides.
1. Connor Roberts (out)
Roberts suffered a muscular injury during last week’s Euros qualifier play-off defeat for Wales and Farke revealed after Friday’s game at Watford that the full-back would be looking at around three weeks out.
2. Willy Gnonto (out)
It’s a similar story for Gnonto who injured his hamstring playing for Italy, Farke revealing that Gnonto would be out for three weeks – perhaps even a few days more – following the results of the scan.
3. Pascal Struijk (out)
Struijk’s season is over following surgery to mend fibre cartilage from his groin injury which has had the defender sidelined since Boxing Day.
4. Stuart Dallas (out)
Dallas remains on the long comeback trail from a femoral fracture.
5. Liam Delap (out)
Tigers striker Delap suffered a knee injury in January that was expected to keep him out for two to three months minimum.
6. Jacob Greaves (out)
Hull centre-back Greaves serves the second game of a two-match ban for amassing ten bookings before the cut off point
7. Ilia Gruev (doubt)
Gruev was another Whites star to suffer injury on international with Bulgaria. The midfielder was forced to miss Friday’s clash at Watford, after which Farke said there was perhaps a chance that Gruev could return on Monday. Asked if any of Gnonto, Gruev or Roberts could be back on Monday, Farke said: “The only player who has perhaps a chance is Ilia Gruev. We have to wait how the swelling will develop and perhaps there is some positive news with him. But Willy and Connor will definitely also be out for Monday.”
