The Premier League season has not been easy for Crystal Palace, and one extremely alarming statistic illustrates the things Oliver Glasner has to change right away at Selhurst Park.

After the international break, Crystal Palace’s regular operations resumed yesterday afternoon—and not in a good way.

In the Premier League, the Eagles lost ground on winning teams once more when they drew 1-1 at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest.

Oliver Glasner’s team lost in the Midlands, therefore he will have to wait even longer to achieve his second victory as the team’s manager.

Similar to the matchup with Luton Town just before halftime, Palace seized the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta, only for their efforts to be undone in the second half, when Chris Wood equalized.

Given how hard Forest pushed for points as they faced relegation, a draw wasn’t the worst outcome in the world, but the scoreline just served to highlight how mediocre things are right now.

The appalling figure Oliver Glasner needs to address at Crystal Palace
The numbers this season tell the story of Palace’s struggles to establish themselves—from injuries to management changes.

Much has been said about the Eagles’ incapacity to maintain leads, a problem that was brought back to life against Forest when they conceded their 20th point of the season when behind.

Not only does the figure raise concerns about Selhurst, but it also highlights the team’s lack of consistency in the last 12 months.

The 15th of April 2023 marked the last victory of the team’s most recent three-game winning streak in the Premier League. It had been about a year since Palace last enjoyed a winning streak of more than one match.

As of right now, Glasner, the guy tasked with fast turning things around, has read something concerning: the Eagles have only won one game in their history.

Oliver Glasner has until May to improve Crystal Palace’s record.
Palace hasn’t won straight games this season, which speaks to the squad’s current inconsistency.

Glasner needs to address his team’s incapacity to maintain control when in a winning position in order to improve their results, even though they only took over last month.

The Austrian has witnessed his team blow leads in three of his four Premier League games as manager; they lost against Spurs despite leading and saw their leads over Luton and Forest evaporate to result in a stalemate.

It’s clear that Glasner has already improved the Eagles’ style of play, but it’s critical that the team leader now strictly enforces the team’s inability to finish games.

With nine Premier League games left, the manager must lead his team to break their dismal record of failing to develop consistency. Failure to secure back-to-back league victories could mean completing the season without a championship.
