Kevin Mier, the goalie for Cruz Azul, is reportedly the subject of negotiations between Brighton & Hove Albion and Zócalo Saltillo, a Mexican tabloid, as of Monday.
The 23-year-old joined the Mexican team at the beginning of this year after graduating from Colombia’s Atlético Nacional. Brighton is taking notice of him because in his 12 games for Cruz Azul, he has conceded 11 goals while maintaining five clean sheets.
Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly expressed interest in the Colombian, but according to Noticias RCN, the Seagulls would be “most interested in hiring” him.
They have repeated a statement made by Rodrigo Celorio, a journalist with TUDN. The team of Roberto De Zerbi is keeping a close eye on the stopper and may submit a bid.
Brighton would be “willing to make a $10 million [€9.3 million] bid” for Mier in the summer, according to Celorio.
Gol Caracol, in the meantime, has reached out to Mediotiempo reporter Edgar Malagón on Cruz Azul’s position regarding the South American after Brighton expressed interest in him.
Malagón asserts that the Premier League team made contact with the Mexican team but did not pursue a possible agreement. He thinks it’s doubtful that Mier will leave in the upcoming window.
We were aware that a survey had been conducted to ascertain his circumstances, but there had been no proposals made. Cruz Azul stated, “Kevin Mier has a five-year deal because we expect him to perform well.
Personally, I don’t think he would go this summer given his significant contribution to the recent Cruz Azul project in collaboration with Anselmi. In addition, his youthful goalkeeping style aligns nicely with the new Celeste mentality. He’s still there at Cruz Azul.
