With a little bit of work, Nottingham Forest could have acquired Chuba Akpom from Ajax during the January transfer window.
According to Algemeen Dagblad, who thinks Nottingham Forest might resurface in the summer as Ajax prepares a makeover, this is the case.
The Ajax striker’s position is discussed in the publication, which offers four potential outcomes for the player as well as potential actions by the Dutch team.
The main concern is whether they will continue to support him following a rollercoaster debut season in which he struggled at first but has since established himself with the squad and received favorable reviews.
He still trails Brian Brobbey in the hierarchy, though, so he and the team will need to decide.
The most likely outcome is that Brobbey stays and Akpom leaves; in fact, it almost happened in January when Nottingham Forest was eager to play late in the window.
According to the newspaper, he would have left Ajax and been at the club by now if they had “gone ahead.”
They are said to have “plenty of money” to do the kind of move that Ajax would desire, and the Dutch side is reportedly searching for a good figure since they believe that Akpom’s homegrown rule may make him desirable.
They think it’s “very plausible” that bids greater than the amount they paid for him will be made, and AD says it makes sense for him to leave in that case.
To put it another way, if Nottingham Forest is still interested in the summer, a deal may be reached, and Ajax would definitely consider selling for the proper price.
