According to a report by Team Talk, a number of English and Scottish clubs are vying for Loughgall striker Benji Magee, including Wrexham.

For the NIFL Premiership team, the striker has been in great form, scoring 21 goals across all competitions.

During the most recent international break, Magee’s excellent season was recognized with his first call-up to the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad.

Two hat-tricks against Newry City and Ballymena United, as well as a game-winning goal against the reigning champions Larne, have been scored during the campaign. Magee has demonstrated his versatility by scoring from the right flank in addition to playing as the striker.

His goals helped his team, who were promoted from the previous season, finish eighth in the premier league. Loughgall is now getting ready for their Playouts debut on Saturday against Ballymena.

The goal scorer from Belfast is apparently attracting the attention of League Two contenders Wrexham. In addition to Wrexham, other interested parties include Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership and Bolton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic, and Oxford United of League One.

It’s thought that those interested teams have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old and believe he has a lot of ability to make the transition to professional football and blossom into a future star.

Loughgall is aware of the interest in their dynamic lead player, and rumour has it they won’t get in the way of him this summer if a big deal comes in.

Author’s Perspective

Those on both sides of the Irish Sea continue to favor the Irish market. English teams have long since taken advantage of Ireland’s talent pool and the ability to attract young, experienced players for very small contracts.

Wrexham and other teams who are supposedly vying for Magee’s signing will be greatly attracted to him due to his form and reasonable transfer fee. Magee is just 21 years old, so his suitors will undoubtedly be considering the possibility of him growing and then being sold for a profit.
