Leandro Trossard, a former Brighton player, and Roberto De Zerbi did not split ways amicably.
Under the Italian, Trossard played a significant role for the Seagulls, but as it became apparent that Trossard intended to leave, their relationship deteriorated.
Trossard and his agency were not happy when De Zerbi publicly criticized his behavior and excluded him from a crucial Premier League match against Liverpool in January 2023.
Next, in a blistering statement, the agent for the Belgian international, Josy Comhair, said, “The manager [De Zerbi] humiliated Leandro in [the] group and indicated that he no longer wanted to see him.” It is just unbelievable that a manager could be that unintelligent after four weeks of not speaking with his player. The statement further stated that the manager has repeatedly said that a transfer is the most practical course of action. Therefore, Brighton’s cooperation with a possible move is crucial.
In response, De Zerbi said he takes choices based on what’s best for the squad. “He is fully aware that in order to play with Brighton alongside me, he must put in a lot of effort, run, and behave properly.”
In January 2023, Trossard and his agency were able to fulfill their goal as the attacker signed a £30 million deal to join Arsenal. On Saturday, Trossard and the Gunners, who are vying for the crown, will be at Amex Stadium. The Brighton head coach commented, “He is playing well, not so much in starting 11, but he is a great player.” He was a fantastic player for both Arsenal and us. Although Arsenal has several excellent strikers, he is a crucial member of the team.”
