Before Callum Wilson of Newcastle United resigned earlier this season, he and Michail Antonio shared a BBC podcast.
Callum Wilson reportedly made fun of Michail Antonio after Newcastle United defeated West Ham 4-3.
Together, the two produced a BBC podcast for a number of years until Wilson’s resignation earlier this year. Every time Newcastle and West Ham played on the show, the two Premier League players would taunt each other.
Wilson, who has a strong record versus the Hammers, was unable to play because of an injury, though. Since experiencing a pectoral issue in the last seconds of February’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest, the 32-year-old has been ruled out.
Last Sunday at St James’ Park, West Ham attacker Antonio scored an equalizer in the first half to put David Moyes’ team up by a comfortable 3-1. But in the closing moments, things went wrong, as a brace from Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes stole a thrilling 4-3 victory.
With a victory, Newcastle’s lead over the Hammers in the race for European football has decreased to one point. Antonio revealed what Wilson messaged him after the game on his podcast, which he has since renamed The Players Channel. He insisted that the magpies “don’t deserve” to finish above West Ham.
In the 69th minute, he added, “the guy did message me after the game saying that your fans wanted to go ‘whey’.” “I answered, ‘Ahh, you wouldn’t be on my phone right now if the game ended 3-1,’ and he kind of dropped that message. He responded, “Well, it didn’t.”
“I couldn’t say much to him, but he obviously tried to pop up at the end of the game because Newcastle showed up.” We lost the game, which irritated me a little, and I don’t think they should have finished ahead of us. Therefore, no, it cannot occur and we cannot permit it.
