Football Insider has learned from sources that Leeds United will have to shell out “big money” to re-sign Kalvin Phillips.

Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Man City is expected to demand a transfer fee of between £30-£40 million for the midfield player.

He went on to say that because of the player’s rich contract in Manchester, Leeds and other interested clubs will run into pay problems.

The 28-year-old, who has made nine appearances for West Ham in all competitions, is presently on loan from Man City.

Leeds United must make a big offer to get a midfield player.
Football Insider (April 3) has been informed by sources that West Ham will not extend his loan period in East London this summer.

Given how much David Moyes admires him, O’Rourke thinks the Hammers were originally considering making a move of this kind, but they have now changed their minds in light of his difficulties in claret and blue.

Phillips signed a six-year contract with Man City in July 2022 after leaving the Whites, however he has only appeared in 31 games for the Manchester team.

If the midfielder is sold this summer, the Manchester United team wants to make as much money as possible. He is anticipated to return to the Etihad for preseason.
