If Wrexham wins League Two this season, co-owner Rob McElhenney has hinted that the team would be headed back to Las Vegas for a promotion celebration.
Consequently, what happened?
Throughout Wrexham’s 2-1 victory over Colchester United, which saw them take the lead in League Two, McElhenney was active on X. Paul Mullin and Max Cleworth, the two goal scorers, were praised by him. He informed Cleworth that he was “old enough for Vegas this year” after the club prohibited him from casinos and nightclubs during their promotion celebration previous summer since he was under 21.
THE LARGER IMAGE
Even though Wrexham still has four games left in their season, they are by no means guaranteed promotion at this point. Currently four points behind leaders Stockport, they are in second place, but County still have a game in hand. There will be an unusually tight finish to the campaign since they are two points ahead of MK Dons, who are in third place, and they have a game left to play.
WERE YOU AWARENESS?
During the team’s first trip to the States, Cleworth disclosed that McElhenney and his wife had to take on the role of his “mummy and daddy” because he was prohibited from visiting most nightclubs in the country. Whether they are promoted and can party all night long again this summer is still to be known.
FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
Tuesday’s match against Crawley Town, who defeated Mansfield Town 4-1 on Saturday, is a must-win for Wrexham. The following weekend, they take on Forest Green Rovers, who are now at the bottom of the table. The season will then be concluded with matches against Crewe Alexandra and league leaders Stockport, with the season finale looking to be a blockbuster match.
