After the Toffees defeated Burnley 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, Jarrad Branthwaite gave an update on his future at Everton.
In an attempt to strengthen his defense even more this summer, Erik ten Hag has been extensively linked to a move to Manchester United with the 21-year-old defender. With 28 appearances in the Premier League this season, Branthwaite—whose contract at Goodison Park expires in 2027—has helped Sean Dyche’s team avoid relegation to the Championship despite a points deduction.
The Reds are apparently among the clubs that have taken notice of the England Under-21 international due to his outstanding performances. The teenage player is reportedly at the top of the club’s shortlist going into the summer transfer season, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Though Branthwaite has drawn Ten Hag’s attention, he has stated that he is still focused on helping Everton win games before considering his alternatives come summertime. When asked about future predictions, the Cumbrian-born goalie responded, “You just have to block it all out.”
“I believe that concentrating on external factors can divert your attention from your responsibilities on the field. I have one goal in mind right now: winning games for Everton to the conclusion of the season.”
Branthwaite was called up to the senior England squad last month as a result of his Everton exploits. Sadly, the center-back was deprived of the opportunity to play for the Three Lions from the start.
“I think it was a good experience for me to be there, disappointed I didn’t get on, but it is one of those things,” he stated. “For me, for now, it’s just about focusing on myself and playing well enough to get into that team. Hopefully, by the summer, I can join the squad.
“The experience of playing with those high-quality players every day and learning from them… like I said, I was disappointed not to get on the pitch, but it is one of those things.”
In spite of this, Branthwaite is still holding out hope for a call-up when England plays at the European Championship in Germany this summer. He stated: “It increases your want to demonstrate your abilities on the field.
“Until the end of the season, I have to keep doing it. At the conclusion of the season, I believe that if you do well for your team, you leave the manager with a question, and for me, it means just concentrating on playing for Everton and winning.
