Texas’s Frisco CeeDee Lamb, an All-Pro wide receiver, doesn’t seem to be disturbed, concerned, or disheartened by his ongoing contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys, despite reports that he might be a holdout.

In fact, the current NFL receptions leader demonstrated quite the opposite in a quick interview with TMZ Sports, which caught up with Lamb when he was traveling during the summer. He reports that so far, his 2024 has been relatively stress-free.

“Relaxing, chilling, working out of course,” stated Lamb.

That’s definitely not the voice of a player concerned about his future with the Cowboys, and the fact that he was grinning from ear to ear added to the proof.

For the Cowboys, mandatory minicamp is not scheduled until June 4-6; instead, OTAs are starting this week.

What he said next leaves no room for interpretation and should bring relief to anybody outside the building wondering if he’ll play in one of the most important Cowboys seasons in recent memory, even though it’s uncertain if he’ll ultimately hold out to speed up that conclusion.

His declaration came back around to him, “Winning—I’m looking forward to winning and being out there with my guys, and making another run at this thing,” he stated. “… Indeed, I will be in Dallas.

Lamb, who was previously selected by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2020 draft, will enter the last year of his rookie contract in September. This is a fifth-year option that will pay him almost $18 million should a new contract not be reached.

The Cowboys have three high-priority contracts on the table, including two more All-Pro players: linebacker Micah Parsons and quarterback Dak Prescott. The latter has stated that he wants Lamb and Prescott to get their new extensions first, so he’s prepared to wait for significant progress in their negotiations.

“I am aware that they need to finish CeeDee Lamb,” Parsons stated in the middle of February. “I believe that’s the first priority at the moment, but I would be thrilled if they were prepared to discuss a deal and close one. I’m prepared to live a life as a Cowboy. I wanted to be on this squad [pre-draft]. I want to win a title with our club, and what’s intended for

“I won’t hurry the procedure. I’m just going to relish the journey and work until the appropriate moment.”

Regarding his impending extension, Prescott said, “It’ll happen.” He also just consented to change the pay projection for 2024 so that millions of dollars can go back into the team’s salary ceiling.

And it’s inevitable that the Cowboys will actively attempt to lock both Prescott and Lamb in for many years to come given their rapport and friendship.

In terms of receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749), receiving touchdowns (12), first downs (80), catch percentage (74.6%), yards per target (9.7), running attempts (14), rushing yards (113), and rushing touchdowns (2), the 25-year-old concluded the 2023 campaign with career highs.

Lamb appears to be adamant about being the next great player to wear a Cowboys uniform.
