West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá, 26, and Manchester City have reportedly agreed on personal terms for a long-term contract. However, it’s believed that no talks have yet started between the two teams, and the transfer fee will probably be decided in the summer. This information comes from Foot Mercato.
Last summer, the two teams came to an agreement over a deal for the player, with Manchester City offering to pay £85 million for the former midfield player of Olympique Lyonnais. But after the FA launched an inquiry into purported betting violations, the agreement fell through.
Since joining West Ham from Lyon, the midfield player has flourished and established himself as a vital member of the squad that defeated Fiorentina 2-1 to win the Europa Conference League the previous season.
Manchester City still has admiration for Lucas Paquetá.
The midfielder has continued to perform at a high level for the team despite the ongoing investigation, and Pep Guardiola still thinks highly of him. The player’s contract is still in effect.
